(and mighty!) businesses.

FAQ

  • I work primarily with small businesses—those that are looking for a one-stop shop to build an amazing web presence. Some of my clients DIYed their original website, and are now ready to invest in an upgrade for their business. Others have worked with an agency in the past, but felt like “small potatoes”.

My sweet spot is designing websites for e-commerce businesses with a tricky product—say, one-of-a-kind antiques, those with a lot of technical data to organize and filter (say, knitting yarn!), or a very specific creative vision to communicate.

Although e-commerce is my focus (building on Shopify), I do work with the occasional service provider (building on Squarespace). In the end, I work with good people.

  • The annoying answer: it depends! An e-commerce site built on Shopify starts at $6,500, and a static site built on Squarespace starts at $5,000.

Most of the small businesses I work with need something extra on top of the design/build—a branding update, help with copy, image sourcing, or graphic design, so any of those would bump up the price a bit. If you have all of those elements in place already, you might be at or close to those starting rates.

There’s a lot of variation in the needs of an e-commerce store based on product complexity, customization, etc. My average Shopify design/build project is in the range of $7,500 to $12,000.

There’s less complexity to a Squarespace build, so the average cost of the projects I work on is $6,500 to $8,000.

  • I do take on a limited number of day rate projects! Cost is $1,200.

Work

A woman with dark brown hair, wearing a yellow top, and small gold hoop earrings, standing in front of a white door.

I’m McNeill, an e-commerce consultant with 13 years of experience leading in-house strategy, operations, and design for creative product-based businesses in the fashion and interiors spaces.

My sweet spot lies in merging a deep understanding of brand aesthetic and voice with the structure, prioritization, and an analytical approach that every sustainable business needs (spreadsheets are my love language!). I especially love working with businesses on the smaller side, particularly those with a deeply personal mission or aesthetic.

Outside of my working life, you can find me crafting, decorating, reading, gardening, traveling, and snuggling my pooch Ruthie.
